Who murdered Blackpool teenager Paige Chivers?

by | 19th, February 2012

PAIGE Chivers was murdered. Paige Chivers vanished in Blackpool, Lancashire, back on August 2007. She was 15. Was she murdered, like police say Charlene Downes was? Was the Bispham the victim of a killer who prays on underage teenage girls?

The NoTW’s Fabulous mag wrote:

Paige regularly visited local fast-food outlets, and detectives suspect she was another victim of sexual grooming, exploitation – and murder.

Suspect. But not a shred of proof. The police have evidence of only one fact: Paige Chivers is missing. But fingers are being pointed. “Paki Alley.” Paedos. Predators. The talk is of “another murder”. But what murders have there been in Blackpool’s fast food Mecca? None.

The Mail wrote in 2001:

At least 60 schoolgirls were groomed for sex by workers at seedy takeaways linked to the murder of a 14-year-old girl.

Children as young as 11 were targeted by mainly Asian staff at fast food outlets in Blackpool. They were offered food, alcohol and cigarettes in return for sexual favours.

But murder? And why have there been no convictions for these heinous crimes? Why if these are facts and the area is such an obvious of crime and child exploitation did the police make such a hash of their investigation into Charlene Downes? The police did not keep all avenues open. The police had their targets – the wrong ones.

(Paige Chivers has a Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck and a tribal tattoo across her lower back.)

Det Supt Dermott Horrigan declares:

“Lancashire Police keeps all cases under continuing review and has taken the decision based on the evidence available and length of time that Paige has been missing. We remain committed to finding out the truth about what has happened to Paige.”

Police have tried to coax Paige Chivers to show herself. Her mother died. When she turned 18, Paige Chivers was due to inherit a sizeable sum of money.

There is a £12,000 reward for information on her.

Over the years, police have made four arrests on suspicion of Paige’s murder. But all have been freed without charge.
