Getting old makes you happy – and why cannabis is banned

YOU get happier as you get older. It just depends on how you define happiness. It’s not having joints fill of limber, girded loins and hair in good places. It’s about acceptance. The Daily Mail notes:

According to the researchers, while the physical quality of life goes down, our mental satisfaction increases.

The age of the researchers is not given. It as lead by Dr Saverio Stranges, Associate Clinical Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology at Warwick Medical School. That’s him in the photo.

The Telegraph explains further:

This will be comforting for many of us, but how do you explain this apparent paradox? The researchers believe the older you are, the better you are able to cope when faced with the vicissitudes of everyday life. They also think that older people have lower expectations than the young and therefore don’t push themselves so hard in either their personal or professional lives. All true, no doubt. But surely it’s also the case that the older you get, the more likely you are to forget what’s making you grumpy.

Memory loss makes you happy? Which is why cannabis is banned. You need to be old to be that happy slumped on the sofa all day happy to do sod all. And because the older people make the rules, they want you up being productive and miserable.

See Government warnings that smoking ages you.
