Crazy golfers set new record for public nudity on a course

by | 28th, March 2012

IT is a well known fact that what marks the British out as natives of these island is their enthusiasm for public nudity and dressing up as a member of the opposite sex. The small wonder is that rugby union is not the national sport. But crazy golf might be. At the Adventure Island in Southend, Essex, 30 true Brits stripped off and played 18-holes for charity.
(In August 2012, Adventure Island featured 102 people stripping off to set the record for most naked people on a rollercoaster – photos.)
Say its’s for charity and whatever your doing can be excused. Pubic nudity for charity is ok. Bending over to retrieve your ball from the base of the Bendy Wendy is ok. Walking down the street naked is not ok unless it’s for Sport Relief.
And a record was aimed for at the Pitch and Butt. Event co-ordinator Tracy Jones explains:
“With them having to bend down to retrieve the balls from the holes, it made for some interesting sights. It was certainly quite chilly down there this morning and there were quite a lot of goose bumps. But people very much got into the spirit of it, stripped off and got on with it.”
No histrionics. Just playing up and playing the game for the benefit of one and all. Public nudity for charity on a summer’s day by the seaside. What could be more British?
