Alan Davies upsets murderous Liverpool fans with Hillsborough insult
ARSENAL fan and jobbing BBC TV comedy show panelist Alan Davies has had his £1000 donation to the Official Hillsborough Justice Campaign rejected. Davies created upset when he questioned Liverpool’s refusal to play on the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, when 96 fans died – and police and media colluded to defame them.
Liverpool’s decision means that Chelsea have only two full days to recover from their FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham before their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.
Davies gave the matter some thought:
“Liverpool and the 15th, that gets on my tits that shit. What are you talking about, ‘We won’t play on the day’? Why can’t they? My mum died on 22nd August. I don’t stay in all day on 22 August.
“Do they play on the date of the Heysel Stadium disaster? How many dates do they not play on? Do Man United play on the date of Munich? Do Rangers play on the date when all their fans died in that disaster whatever year that was – 1971?
“Every interview [Dalglish] has given this season he looks like he wants to headbutt the interviewer. This tight-mouthed, furious, frowning, leaning-forward, bitter Glaswegian ranting: ‘Liverpool FC do not play on April 15th.’
“Hillsborough is the most awful thing that’s happened in my life, in terms of football. It’s one of the worst tragedies in English peacetime history. But it’s ridiculous that they refuse to play on that day any more.”
Liverpool fans could ignore it as the to-deadline ramblings of a media whore about what remains an open wound. Or Liverpool fans looking to be offended could be. As Pies notes:
‘Someone said something about Hillsborough that wasn’t 100% solemn and reverent? GET THE BASTARD!!!’
Davies took to Twitter:
“The tone I took on the podcast was inappropriate for this subject. I support the campaign for justice for the 96. I said the Hillsborough disaster was the worst event in modern peacetime history. I was on a terrace listening to a radio as it happened. Many disagree but I feel that the Liverpool v Everton semi-final could be played on Apr 15th. Apologies to those upset by that situation.”
Maybe playing the game the fans loved on the anniversary of so much horror would be a more fitting tribute?
Of course this is twitter, so Davies became the subject of a Twitter Hunt. These comments appear to be tweeted without irony:
* SHARON COUPLAND
@SHANNABEN – Drop dead Alan davies you twat. Shit actor. Not funny at all. #LFCYNWA* Graeme Kynaston @bigpileofgraeme – so AlanDavies (aka Jonathan Creek) is a massive bellend. * Sunil Singh Great decision, it’s dirty money. As a result, he’s ruined his career.
* Andrew Smith No, it is offensive. Hes trying to make out that we think we are special/different to other clubs and we are ridiclious for not playing on the 15th unlike utd etc who will play on the anniverarys of their disasters. If it wasnt offensive why would he try and donate £1000 out of guilt. Plus the further comments he made and dalglish. He also put liverpool the city into his room101 when he was on the show. He must of had a slap off a scouser at the match in the 80’s. And i hope so to now. Beaut
