UN banned Sacha Baron Cohen from filming at UN because he might ‘upset dictators’

SACHA BARON COHEN is not a man that appears from behind his disguises very often, but he’s peered out from beneath his comedy facial fuzz to talk about his latest creation, Admiral General Aladeen.

And during an interview with the BBC, the Ali G and Borat star made an astonishing claim! He said: “The interesting thing is, when we asked to shoot inside the United Nations, they actually refused. We said ‘this is a pro-democracy movie’. They said ‘that’s the problem – we represent a lot of dictators, and they are going to be very angry by this portrayal of them so you can’t shoot in there’.”

Imagine that! Stopping someone filming for fear of hurting the feelings of a wickle dictator! Of course, Baron Cohen has courted controversy with his latest film, with some idiots suggesting that this latest role was an attack on Arabs. The comedy star replied that anyone who would be offended by it would be “dictators and fans of dictatorship”.

So why has Sacha decided to do an interview As Himself?

“When we were doing the Ali G show, from then onwards I realised that the moment I went on air and started talking about ‘oh yes, I set these people up’, there were photos of me, there was a chance that the interviewee would see the interview and withdraw consent for the TV show,” adding that his characters “expose things that, let’s say, a documentary finds difficulty in exposing”.

It’s a bit like when Kiss did ‘God Gave Rock ‘N’ Roll To You’ without their make-up on. Basically, it’s all a bit weird. PUT A FACE BACK ON COHEN! YOU’RE REALLY FREAKING US OUT NOW!
