Mel Gibson’s own stepmother Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson get restraining order against him

TROUBLED is a word that has followed Mel Gibson around for some time now. When he’s not on-tape going postal, or indeed, threatening his ex with all-manner of vile things, he’s pottering around with a beaver grafted to his hand and glaring at everyone like a reanimated corpse.

And now, Gibbo’s own stepmother has filed for a temporary restraining order against him, claiming he’s been acting like a “wild man” in her presence and represents an imminent physical threat.

Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson (excellent name) was married to Gibson’s 93-year-old father, John Hutton Gibson, until he filed divorce papers against her last month citing irreconcilable differences. The restraining order, filed yesterday, states that Gibson “and/or his sister (Maura Dunne) manipulated her husband (a devout Catholic) into filing the divorce action against Joye“.

It continues: “Mel, his sister Maura, and Joye disagreed on Hutton’s medical care. And Mel made it clear that Joye’s views on anything were not welcome and only caused him to be irritated and were ignored.”

You want something more juicy than that don’t you? Well, this application went on and described an alleged incident in May when Mel Gibson became “incensed and began acting like a wild man” around her. Mrs Gibson says she “could feel his spit hitting her face” as the actor screamed at her. She says the encounter left her “nervous, unable to sleep and caused her to lose weight“, before Mrs Gibson described Mel as “a very dangerous man” and suggests in the application that “it is only a matter of time before Mel crosses the line even further and physically assaults me”.

All this comes on the back of screenwriter Joe Eszterhas claiming that Gibson shouted at him while spouting off with antisemitic slurs, as well as the long, well-publicised row with ex-partner Oksana Grigorieva where he wished she’d get ‘raped by a pack of niggers‘. Oh, and let us not forget the antisemitic remarks he made to a police officer who arrested him on suspicion of drink driving.

What a delightful, charming man.
