Biased BBC wipes Israel’s capital city from the Olympic map

by | 25th, July 2012

THE BBC’s bias against Israel is well documented. You should be able to write what you like, so long as you are private outfit. But the BBC is funded by public money. It should stick to the facts. But even the most obvious facts is ignored. The BBC has obliterated Israel’s capital city from its Olympic coverage.

The BBC Sport website features profiles of all the competing countries. But when it comes to Israel, the capital it is gone. According to the biased BBC, Israel has no capital city. Oddly, this ‘error’ is compounded by the BBC’s statement that the capital of a country called ‘Palestine’ is East Jerusalem.

This is a wholly deliberate tactic to undermine Israel.

The Office of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, reacts:

…we were astounded by the decision of the BBC to discriminate against Israel in the network’s Olympic page. For each country (and non-country) participating in the London Olympics, a special page was given on your internet site which included background information such as capital city. For each country (and non-country) apart from Israel. Jerusalem is the capital city of the state of Israel, and accordingly we request that you correct this matter immediately.

The BBC responds:

Due to an error which was made at the time the information was added onto the website, incorrect details and mistakes appeared on the Israeli and Palestinian team pages. This has since been rectified in line with BBC policy.

So. Get a lod of that new page – the one that says: “Seat of government: Jerusalem, though most foreign embassies are in Tel Aviv.”

Looks like Israel still has no capital city.

Israel’sPrime Minister’s Office has launched a Facebook page:

“Following the BBC’s decision to omit Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel from its Olympic Games website, this is your place to support Jerusalem – the one and only Capital of Israel.”

The Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat takes up the cause:

“We will not accept those who deny our history, our sovereignty, and our right to determine our own capital. Irrespective of the BBC’s political agenda, Jerusalem was, is, and will always be the capital of Israel and the spiritual, political, and physical center of the Jewish people.”

And should you complain, the BBC will lable you as one of them. This is what the BBC wrote to one corespondent who complained:

“We feel it is worth explaining that a considerable number of complaints have been generated by online lobby activity.”

Lobby? Whoever could they mean..?
