RIP Geoffrey Hughes, you were Coronation Street binman Eddie Yates. You taught Southerners how to “mash tea” and “side dishes”. You were also in Z-Cars, Skins and The Likely Lads. Epically, you were the voice of Paul McCartney, standing in for the singing great’s voice in the Beatles film Yellow Submarine. Geoffrey Hughes – sounded better than Paul McCartney. That’s no small epitaph…
