Why porn sells better than children
WELL, just fancy that. It appears that porn sells better than material aimed at children:
EL James’ over-hyped bonkbuster trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey, has become the best-selling book ever on Amazon UK, stealing the title from JK Rowling’s seven-novel Harry Potter collection.
Can’t say that it’s all that much of a surprise. Human nature is such that there’s always more of a market getting people juiced up to practice making babies than there is for entertaining those that get created.
What does slightly worry though is that both sets of books are so appallingly written. There’s nary an elegant sentence in either of them. Sure good writing is hard as my own efforts show quite clearly. But couldn’t we all have gone mad for people who actually had a bit of style about their works?
