Have no fear Pussy Riot – Madonna is here to adopt you

HAVE no fear Pussy Riot girls, Madonna is supporting you from afar. The Russian group face years in prison for criticising Russian President Vladimir Putin. You can read more of their alleged crimes here. Says Madonna:

“I’m against censorship, so I hope that the judge is lenient with them and that they are freed soon.”

Previously, when she was waving fake guns about on her show, a Madonna’s lacky told the HuffPost’s Rob Shuter:

“Madonna would rather cancel her show than censor her art. Her entire career, she has fought against people telling her what she can and cannot do. She’s not about to start listening to them now.”

Freedom to be is what Madge is all about. As the publicity-maker said previously:

* “Sarah Palin can’t come to my party. Sarah Palin can’t come to my show.”

* “I’m a strict mother. My daughter doesn’t know why I won’t allow her to get everything pierced or a tattoo or dye her hair blonde on the tips and pink at the roots. Lourdes can do any of those things once she’s 18. But until then…”

And:

* With the U.S. poised to fight in Iraq, Madonna changed her new video because she didn’t want to “risk offending anyone who might misinterpret the meaning”.

The video features Madonna dressed in combat gear, riding a tank onto a fashion show runway, then hosing down the fashionistas in the audience. With background war scenes of guns and bombs falling, Madonna throws a grenade at a President Bush look-alike in the audience. But then, the grenade turns into a cigarette lighter that the look-alike uses to light his cigar.

Madonna then humbly stated:

“Due to the volatile state of the world and out of sensitivity and respect to the armed forces, who I support and pray for, I do not want to risk offending anyone who might misinterpret the meaning of this video.”

You go, Pussy Riot! Express yourselves…
