Jesus Christ spotted in Belfast tree stump

by | 11th, August 2012

JESUS Christ has been spotted by Sean Osborne in a Belfast City Cemetery. Says he:
“Lots of people have been to see it and one woman has been there saying the rosary at the stump. It really is mounting in terms of curiosity. You can feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up, you really need to see it for yourself.”
Having felt the thrill, he adds:
“Being a sceptic I’ve been down and scrubbed at it, but you can’t really tell how it got to be there. If someone has painted it on, they’ve done a really good job and kept quiet.”
Stump. Is there a less divine, less inspiring word than stump? I was once on the London Underground when a drunk man who had been leering at a woman approached her and said: “You want a proper stumpin’.” He didn’t look like a cricket lover. Every since I can’t hear the words stumping or stump without remembering that incident. Of course, if Jesus can appear in something as low as a stump, then he can appear in a tomato, rising damp, a nan bread, a pipe by a Chinese takeaway in Sunderland

YouTube link.

The council did not comment on how the image appeared, and Sean said he was not sure either.  I don’t really know what I saw, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out,” he explained.
