Pregnant women delighted to learn that she was not raped: Todd Akin’s is here to help

HAPPY days for Semera, a Bosnian woman who thanks to Missouri Republican Todd Akin’s reproduction masterclass can look her child in the face and says that he was not the result of a violent rape. It was not a legitimate rape. It was, as George Galloway might term it, just “bad etiquette“. It might have been a joke that got bit out of hand.

Akin taught us that unless a woman is the the victim of a “legitimate rape” she cannot get pregnant. Akin says that in real rape the female body shuts down.

Says Semera:

“When the soldiers came and pushed hin to the room of my mother’s house, I was scared. When they stripped my clothes off and began to pinch and slap me, I was hurt . And when they held me down while they took it in turns to pentrate me I wanted to die. But after hearing Congressman Akin’s words, I have come to relsie that I was not raped at all. My body had agreed to it all. The pain was intense. My body did not shut down. My Fallopian tubes remians open, wilfully. My uterus ‘grill’ did not deploy. So it cannot have been rape. I must have wanted it. My son, Haim, is not the result of a rape after all. Thanks, Mr Akin’s for restoring my pride.”

Ecuador’s President, Rafael Correa, also wants to talk about rape. In giving a few words about the rape allegations levelled by two Swedish women against Julian Assange, Correa told us: “I don’t want to judge allegations that have not been proven and would not, in any case, be considered a felony in Latin American, too.”

Sleep rape is not rape in South America. You cannot impregnante a woman if you do rape right in the United States. It’s all encouraging news for rapists. Indeed, the news for rapists keeps getting better and better.

In the US Repulican House member Steve King House says Todd Akin is being too treated too harshly for saying “legitimate” rape cannot result in pregnancy. King told an Iowa reporter that he can’t recall a single incident of a woman getting pregancy after being raped:

“Well I just haven’t heard of that being a circumstance that’s been brought to me in any personal way. and I’d be open to discussion about that subject matter.”

And he would know. Rape victims talk to him. He understands.

Talking Points Memo called King’s ofice and, once more, the man in the spotlight pushed the toothpaste neatly back into the tube. Brittany Lesser, a spokesperson for King, said:

“What he was saying was, he personally does not know a girl who was raped. He never says, ‘I’ve never heard of that.’ There’s a fine line between ‘I’ve never heard of that’ and ‘I don’t know personally anybody who’s been raped. There’s a difference. There is a difference.”

Adding:

Lesser said “of course” King is aware that girls have been impregnated by statutory rape or incest, and said King supports people who have not been forcibly raped receiving federal abortion coverage under a rape exemption. That’s a given for anybody who understands pro-life legislation.”

All these statements from men about what is and what is not rape are getting confusing. Women, typically unable to think for themselves, are in a mire. More vitally, what is a red-blooded man with a knife to think. What we need is some kind of form all these wise heads can sign and all new organs can publish. Something like:

Dear world,

I am a prat.
