Drunken pirate stole the Dart Princess Passenger Ferry

ALISON Whelan, 51, has been jailed for 112 days for aggravated vehicle taking. Whelan stole a passenger ferry. As she floated down the River Dart, Devon, Whelan yelled to police “I’m Jack Sparrow”, “I’m a pirate” and “I believe this is out of your jurisdiction”.

Whelan told magistrates in Torquay that leading up to the incident she had been drinking Lambrini for two days and eaten deadly nightshade. Seeking shelter, she came upon the Dart Princess Passenger Ferry.

When Whelan and his shipmate Tristam Locke were arrested she said they would have ended up in St Tropez if they hadn’t been caught.

Tristam Locke was fined £100.

Interestingly, September 19, the day Whelan was in court, was International Talk Like A Pirate Day. The phrase “I believe this is out of your jurisdiction” is now the battle cry of every pirate from Somalia to Wall Street…
