ITV’s This Morning hoaxed by celebrity sperm bank

by | 18th, October 2012

IF you are going to make a spoof news story, weave in celebrities and sex. It won’t fail. ITV spotted a story about a celebrity sperm bank. This Morning, the most haphazard show on the telly, showcased the sperm depository for all VUP tossers. Viewers met Dan Richards, chief executive officer of FameDaddy, “the world’s first service to offer a top-class portfolio of celebrity sperm.”

Mr Richards is “an actor working for a TV production company”. ITV says the hoaxers “clearly went to great lengths to pull the wool over the eyes of the programme and our audience”.

No. They didn’t. They just produced a ludicrous story about sperm and celebrities.

This Morning won the National Television Awards 2012 Best Factual Programme award for its features on such facts as: the woman with TWO vaginas; world’s largest penis; and the world’s largest natural boobs.

ITV adds:

“We carry out a range of checks, which in this case included verifying that this company was legally registered, and we did the interview in good faith.”

Good faith. Journalism. It might be dead…

PS – one readers on Mumsnet writes: “I did the quiz and got Bono.” Yeah. Like he needs sperm to reproduce…
