ED Miliband tell the TUC faithful massed in London for an anti-austerity protest that David Cameron is “clueless“. He added:

“They [Tories] leave young people out of work while the bonuses at the banks carry on. They even have a Chancellor of the Exchequer who tries to travel first class on a standard class ticket. It’s one rule for those at the top and another rule for everybody else: everybody like you who plays their part and does the right thing.”

Hand on heart, who has not at some point in their life tried to pay less on their train fare? There is something almost heartening about Osborne’s error. He’s not showing his wad. He’s bunking his fare. You imagine he’s in some shock that he can’t borrow a friend’s train and he has to share one.

Miliband may care to recall events of 2000, when Cherie Blair was fined £10 after failing to buy a train ticket on her way to work as a judge. Prime minister Tony Blair’s official spokesman said:

“She is an upstanding citizen. These things happen.”

Here’s Ed:

Ed Miliband. Give him an open goal and he falls over in the box…
