Jimmy Savile: John Peel might have shagged Bella Thorne
FIRST they came for the convicted paedophiles. Next they came for a man who made a living dressing up as Hitler and falling over. Gary Glitter has been arrested in connection with the police investigation of Jimmy Savile. Now Freddie Starr has been pinched.
Both arrests are rooted in the testimony of Karin Ward, who alleged in an ITV documentary that Savile sexually abused her. She was 14. She alleges that Starr tried to grope her. Karin Ward also said that she saw Gary Glitter having sex with an underage girl in Jimmy Savile’s BBC dressing room.
Starr denies any wrongdoing.
Elsewhere, the late BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel in making news. The Telegraph says he met Jane Nevin backstage at a Black Sabbath concert in the summer of 1969.
She was 15. He was 30:
Mr Peel had unprotected intercourse with the teenager shortly after contracting a venereal disease he openly discussed live on air.
She must have missed that bit about the DJ’s VD.
She tells the Daily Mail:
“I was devastated when I found out I was pregnant. I didn’t even think about telling John. I just wanted it to be over.”
She had an abortion.
Thirty years later she wrote to him. She wanted him to open a bar in Surrey. He replied:
“Well, you’ve scared the daylights out of me. For years I’ve been expecting a letter starting, ‘In the 70s we had a brief affair – and your now son/daughter, aged 27, wants to meet you’.”
Sounds like this woman was one of many. She tells the Mail:
“He [Peel] must have known I was still at school. But he didn’t ask and I didn’t tell him. At the time I was just so happy to be on his arm. I was young and he was famous. All I cared about was that I could make all my school friends jealous. I was insecure and impressionable. I suppose I used him for his fame and he used me for sex.”
John Peel married Shirley Anne Milburn when she was just 15 in 1965.
“I loved the status of knocking around with him. He would invite me to gigs and I would follow him around like a lapdog. I don’t know if sex was expected but I went along with it willingly. Looking back, it was terribly wrong and I was perhaps manipulated. But it was a different era.”
It might be this one. On October 22, the BBC-hating Daily Mail wrote of Disney TV star Bella Thorne:
The redhead wore a frothy, full-length pink gown with sweetheart neckline and cinched waist, and on top of her head sat a sparkling jeweled tiara. Bella’s hair is one of her trademarks and it was loosely curled, long and flowing…
Bella looked all grown up and older than her 15 years at that more relaxed October 8 gathering, wearing a clingy grey dress and brown leather boots with high heels.
She wore her hair sleek and straight with a headband as an accessory.
