Come and sit with Jimmy Savile – council planned to add groping statue to Savile bench

by | 6th, November 2012

RUMOURS have reached us that councillors in a certain seaside town in the north of England were planning a very special tribute to the now totally disgraced BBC man Jimmy Savile.

After his death in 2011 the the council in the town, which has a now rather unfortunate close association with the TV celeb, drew up plans for a special statue of Jim to be unveiled in his honour in 2012. This has been widely reported.

The rumour runs though that the statute featured Mr Fix It with one arm held up was designed to be placed on a park bench. The idea being that the local youngsters could go and sit next to Jim and have their picture taken with the DJ ‘s arm draped over them in classic Jim’ll Fix It style.

Needless to say when the scale of child abuse perpetrated by Savile became apparent, the council quickly shelved their plans.

Savile already has a bench or two in his name which are currently residing in landfill in north Yorkshire.
