THE 1970s family unit was recorded in a palette of all the brown and those pukey colours that inspired the modern alcopops. Life seems hard-edged. Hair is unforgiving. Spectacles are gigantic, face-hiding bins. Socks are always – always – pulled up. Men seem older. Mothers looks younger.
