Egypt judge sentences seven Christians to death for parts in Innocence of Muslims film

by | 28th, November 2012

IN Arab sprung Egypt, a cout has sentenced seven Egyptian Christians to death for taking part in the pisspoor film the Innocence of Muslims.

Says Cairo-based Judge Saif al-Nasr Soliman:

“The seven accused persons were convicted of insulting the Islamic religion through participating in producing and offering a movie that insults Islam and its prophet.”

The seven were tried and sentenced  in absentia.

Who is Judge Saif al-Nasr Soliman? Dunno.

CNN reported:

The charges — largely symbolic because the accused all live outside Egypt — name alleged filmmaker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, who is identified by Egyptian officials as Elia Bassili. …Egypt also charged Morris Sadek, who is believed to have posted the clip to YouTube. …The others accused were identified as Morcos Aziz; Fikri Zokloma, also known as Esmat Zokloma; Nabil Bissada; Nahed Metwali; and Nader Nicola.

Given the problem identifying who is who – the Arabic names can be wrongly translated – the Egyptian court might have nailed the wrong people.
