Did Jimmy Savile pick the Tesco Christmas advert song?

by | 4th, December 2012

ONE current advert for Tesco’s Christmas stuff features a girl reaching into a stocking. As she grins, Joseph Arrington, Jr.’s (aka Joe Tex) song I Gotcha plays out. Bit odd, no? The wholesome lyrics are after the ad:

I Gotcha

Aha-ha you thought I didn’t see you now didn’t ya
Aha-ha you tried to sneak away from me didn’t ya
(Ha Ha Ha) Aha-ha now give me what you promised me
Give it up c’mon hey hey hey

You promised me today that you’d quit your boyfriend
I’d be the next one to ease on in
You promised me it’d be just us two yeah
I’d be the only man kissin’ on you yeah

Now kiss me hold it a long time
Hold it don’t turn me loose now
Hold it a little bit longer now
Hold it c’mon hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, yeah
Hey ….

You made me a promise and you gonna stick to it
You shouldn’t have promised if you wasn’t gonna do it
You saw me and ran in another direction
I’ll teach you to play with my affection

Now give it here
You never should have promised to me
Give it here, don’t hold back now
Give it here don’t say nothing just
Give it here c’mon give it here ha give it here ha
Give it here ha, give it here ha, give it here ha, give it to me now, hey

I gotcha
You made a promise to me, gotcha
You never should have promised to me
I gotcha
Give it on here
I gotcha
You don’t gone away from …
Oh I gotcha
Ahahahah I gotcha, give it on up
I gotcha
Give it on here
I gotcha
You tried to sneak away from me didn’t ya
Ahah I gotcha
Oh I gotcha

Jimmy Savile might not be dead. He might be picking the pops for TV adverts…
