South Africa’s ‘Thighs of a Virgin’ school protests name change

TO South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, where KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Senzo Mchunu wants 15 schools renamed.

Why? Well, take the KwaZulu-Natal school called Mathangetshitshi. That’s Zulu for thighs of a virgin “. It was so called in honour of Chief Nhleko, whose thighs were admired by local residents “.

Other schools to be renamed:

Bambinkuzu (pickpocket)

Phuza (drink)

Nkawu (monkey)

Tilongo (prison)

Says Mchunu:

“We will negotiate with the villagers to provide us with alternative names in the interests of education.”
