THERE are people out there who are really quite stupid. They’ll argue that footballers are overpaid, while still promoting ‘proper’ things like fine art and movies, despite the fact that there are actors and painters who are paid equally obscene amounts of money for doing even less work.

That said, West Bromwich Albion player, Liam Ridgewell, won’t help to quieten detractors after a clumsy joke of his went public.

The Baggies player photographed himself using a wad of £20 notes instead of toilet paper and has now apologised to fans after the photo appeared in the tabloids. Basically, the photo sees Ridgewell with his trousers down in the bathroom of his £1.5 million home in Birmingham, surrounded by a grand’s worth of notes.

Ridgewell said that he had intended it to be a private joke with friends and, of course, regrets any offence he may have caused. That didn’t stop Twitter going mental, with one spitting that the photo was “arrogant and idiotic”.

West Brom players had fun at Ridgewell’s expense further by draping toilet roll around Ridgewell’s locker and posting the picture on Twitter.
