by | 11th, December 2012

THE story of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who worked at the hospital where pregnant Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is being treated. Jacintha Saldanha was pranked by Australian DJs Mel Grieg and Michael Christian. Did their joke lead to her death? Did the British media’s amplification of that phone call make the nurse suicidal? We will never know for certain. What we do know is that after the call and the suicide a media feeding frenzy followed. Full story.

A news cameraman films flower tributes to late nurse Jacintha Saldanha outside the residential apartments of the the King Edward VII hospital where she was found dead, in central London, Monday, Dec. 10, 2012. Australian radio hosts managed to impersonate Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles and received confidential information about the Duchess of Cambridge's medical condition, in a hoax phone call to the hospital where the pregnant Duchess was staying and which was broadcast on-air. The controversial prank took a dark twist three days later with the death of Saldanha, a 46-year-old mother of two, who was duped by the DJs despite their Australian accents.
