The Mona Kate: Catherine Duchess of Cambridge’s first portrait
THE Duchess of Cambridge says her first official portrait is “amazing”. The Mona KAte is the work of Paul Emsley. He was told by Kate:
“It’s just amazing, I thought it was brilliant.”
Wills added:
The Duke added: “It’s beautiful, it’s absolutely beautiful.”
Says the artist:
“In the sessions of photography from which I worked, I was always aware of the fact that we would use the hair very much as a kind of frame for the face, and not too much in the way of jewellery, other than the earring, to try to create something of her natural warmth, her natural serenity. The fact she is a beautiful woman is for an artist difficult. In the end I think what I tried to do really was to convey something about her warmth and her smile. Any artist will tell you doing a smiling portrait is not at all easy so that was difficult. You always see the (problems), you’re always unhappy with what you do … but it has seemed today that everyone likes it.”

She’ll be worth commenting on when she does something useful… like cure a cancer or save a life (rather than take one)… in the meantime, not interested.

Middleton was well represented. She’s a cold,shallow,low-class manipulating schemer who with mommie’s help climbed a big social ladder. The portrait IS “brilliant” as Waity herself said. What can ex-party-whore-public drunk, nude-exhibitionist idiot expect ? except a really honest portrait if an artist has the honesty it takes to portray it ?

It’s awful. It looks like she has the skin of a jaundiced cadaver.
.
Look at the photo of Kate standing next to the Artist. Compare their skin tones. Look at the artist standing next to the portrait, compare the skin tones.

The mans bordering on being colour blind.

My mum once had a pastel drawing of me done at Pontins when I was about nine. My dad hit a cable when he nailed it onto the wall so he daren’t touch the nail after that and it stayed there for years. I hated it.

EVer had your portrait done. My mother once had pro photos taken of me and my sister. I wanted to kick it to bits.

I just think it makes her look tired… which is a great shame as she is always so animated when out and about.

it’s great pic of carole; the master stroke of a ‘ronge wig with grey high-lights makes her look at least 5 yrs younger!

That’s the recession for you. They won’t have to pay for another until she’s 35

Sorry, that portrait of her aged her 10 years!
