Salford bandit driven to getaway car by grandma

by | 15th, January 2013

IDIOT of the day is Declan Lloyd. He’s the 21-year-old villain who got his grandmother to drive him to the getaway car. Lloyd has left the stolen Peugeot 207 in Radcliffe. He’d used the car to flee the scene in after he’d stolen a cashbox from a Barclay’s Bank security guard in Salford.

Police had found the car. They’d noted the cashbox was still inside. They waited. And then Lloyd arrived with his unsuspecting nan. He began to unload the cash. He was nicked.

Lloyd, of South Radford Street, Salford, has been found guilty of robbery jailed for four years.

Det Con Justin Bryant, of the Volume Crime Team, explains:

“Due to their [police] endeavours, and partly thanks to Lloyd’s dim-wittedness in returning to the scene so quickly, we were able to identify the offender, locate the getaway car and recover the stolen cash in about 30 minutes.”

Moral of the story: if you’re gong to rob a bank, borrow grandmas’s car.
