"So, now, what would you like to say about equality of pay?"

Glass ceilings, socio-economic stratification in education, and a whole bunch of other stuff which reduces social mobility and reduces womens' access to better paid jobs, and by default their potential earning after their 20s.

Has this all disappeared?

Women (in the developed nations) currently live longer, primarily because of the oestrogen effect (which delays the progression of atherosclerosis until menopause) and traditionally having less dangerous occupations (not many female roofers, steeplejacks etc). One would anticipate that the widespread use of statins (and the increased take up of more women in traditionally male-dominated occupations) will vastly reduce the difference in gender life expectancy within one generation.

As regards driving insurance: As a young male driver, I was discriminated against by insurance underwriters based on my gender and not my ability to drive (as evidenced by my lack of driving accidents despite high annual mileages, compared with some of my female contemporaries at that time). So what's wrong with starting all young drivers on an equal footing and letting their skills and ability dictate future premiums? Additional advanced driving courses for the young could be used to improve young-driver skills and reduce premiums (with the additional benefit that these drivers will have improved skills later in life). Those that are demonstrably good will be more insurable.

So more EU intervention, please. They're making my job (and my life) a little bit safer and my economic security a little bit more certain.

"So Tim, shall we talk about equality of pay?
.
Thought not."

Sure, let's do so. I've written reams and reams on this elsewhere. From the lies that Polly and Harperson have used (so bad that the Office of Statistics actually told them off) through the way that we shouldn't compare part time and full time wages as is often done. Through the way that actually, we don't have a "gender" pay gap, we have a "motherhood" one.

Heck, I even did a piece for The Guardian about that.

So, here's the truth. Women working part time make more per hour than men working part time, on average. Women in their 20s make more than men in their 20s, on average. Single never married women with no children make more than men, on average.

Women who have children make less than men of the same age, qualifications etc.

We have a motherhood pay gap, not a gender one.

And, get this. The recent change so that we now have parental, rather than meternal, leave, came as a result of me. No, seriously, I can point you to the Lib Dem activist who was convinced by my analysis, who took the policy through the party.

It really is true that the UK has shared parental leave because Tim Worstall pointed out that we don't actually have a gender pay gap, we have a motherhood one.

So, now, what would you like to say about equality of pay?

All they had to do was offer to let her come back for a free "Man's" haircut
Then she would have understood the price difference.
No chat and cups of tea.
No sitting under a drier with the option of a manicure.
Snip snip snip and out.
Unless she needed a shave as well but.
