RIP Richard Briers. You lived The Good Life moved in Ever Decreasing Circles. You were the voice of Fiver in Watership Down. You made it look easy, like you weren’t acting. Emphysema killed him. As he said:“I was diagnosed five years ago and didn’t think it would go quite as badly as it has. It’s a bugger, but there it is. I used to love smoking.”

Actress Judy Loe (left), widow of actor Richard Beckinsale and their five year old daughter Katy, receive condolences from actor Richard Briers and other members of the acting profession, outside the Actors' Church, St. Paul's, Covent Garden after today's Memorial Service for Mr Beckinsale. Richard Beckinsale, boyish star of of TV's Porridge and Rising Damp, died on March 19th, aged 31.
