Courageous Samira Ibrahim rejected by Obama for her ‘racist anti-American’ tweets

Mideast Egypt

SAMIRA Ibrahim, 26, was declared an international woman of courage. The ubiquitous Michelle Obama was to award the Egyptian with an award. Ibrahim had protested against Egyptian doctors forcing virginity tests” on women in captivity. That showed courage.

She says that after being arrested in Tahrir Square, a doctor tried to test her. Furthermore, she was “arrested while in high school for writing a paper that criticised Arab leaders’ insincere support to the Palestinian cause.”

This was deemed to be courageous.

Mrs Obama and John Kerry, the Secretary of State, and their team decided that Ibrahim had displayed “exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment, often at great personal risk.”

She would be flown to Washington DC to collect her gong.

And then The Weekly Standard magazine claimed Ibrahim was a bigot. When in 2012 an Islamist suicide bomber murdered six people on a bus in Bulgaria – five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian bus driver –  Ibrahim allegedly tweeted:

“An explosion on a bus carrying Israelis in Burgas airport in Bulgaria on the Black Sea. Today is a very sweet day with a lot of very sweet news.”

In another alleged tweet she said the rulers in Saudi Arabia were “dirtier than the Jews”.

(By dirty she means unclean and not good in bed.)

Another alleged tweet went on to praise Hitler:

“I have discovered with the passage of days, that no act contrary to morality, no crime against society, takes place, except with the Jews having a hand in it. Hitler.”

Another tweet:

“Today is the anniversary of 9/11. May every year come with America burning.”

Victoria Nuland, a State Department spokesman, says Ms Ibrahim had “categorically denied” authorship of the tweets.

Says Ms Ibrahim:

“My account has been previously stolen and any tweet on racism and hatred is not me.”

But why would any alleged bigotry affect her previous acts of courage? Was what she did courageous or not? If she’s so courageous, why would she lie?

Update: she tweets: “I refuse to apologize to the Zionist lobby in America regarding my previous anti-Zionist statements under pressure from American government therefore they withdrew the award.”

Oh…
