Man tattoos his eyeballs black: I cried ink for two days’
THERE are a lot of dodgy tattoos out there, from ill-advised tramp-stamps to people having Thom Yorke’s face on their nipples, but a man from Brazil has taken the biscuit by getting his actual eyeballs inked black.
Rodrigo Fernando dos Santos – who just so happens to be a tattoo artist himself – paid around £350 to get the whites of his eyes coloured in, permanently.
Rodrigo already has 70% of his body covered in tatts and he said:
“I cried ink for two days.
“Only now is the colour of my tears lightening up. I think they are still half grey.”
Brrrr. Rafael Leao Dias, who tattooed dos Santos’s eyes, explained that he used a special type of needle and ink for the procedure. A special procedure that, regardless, requires you to have a needle inject something into your eyes, which should make any normal human want to puke forever.
Apparently, Rafael had to do the eyes three times to obtain a satisfactory opaque result.
“We apply the ink between the conjunctiva and sclera layer that protects the eye,” he said. “I studied the procedure for two years and performed my first application in October 2012. There is no risk or discomfort due to the use of specific eyewash.”
