REMEMBER Kai, the hero who gave TV the greatest interview of 2013 (before charles Ramsey) when he smu-ashed a ne’er-do-well with a hatchet? Well, now police allege that Kai,  aka Kai Nicodemus or Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, bludgeoned attorney Joseph Galfy to death in his New Jersey home. The two men had met in New York City and then gone to the house.

A man who might well be Kai wrote on Facebook:

what would you do if you woke up with a groggy head, metallic taste in your mouth, in a strangers house… walked to the mirror and seen come dripping from the side of your face from your mouth, and started wretching, realizing that someone had drugged, raped, and blown their fuckin load in you? what would you do?

Kai has now cut his hair and scored a facial tattoo. He’s also been arrested.

It’s a little news story about a man with a troubled life who entertained the media. But in the New York Post it becomes something else. Get this:

News man has close encounter with Kai, the hatchet- wielding hitchhiker now wanted for murder

Police reporter almost allowed Kai to couch-surf. But he didn’t — and now Kai is accused of murdering a New Jersey man.

The reporter who never met Kai is Shane Dixon Kavanaugh. He says he spoke with Kai via Facebook. Kai said he’d been kicked out of a Brooklyn flat. Says The intrepid reporter on the Facebook beat thought about offering him a place for the night. But he never did. He offers readers:

…he almost spent the night before the murder on my couch.

And:

He might have spent that night at my place.

But he didn’t. And:

Now, he probably wouldn’t have killed me, based on what he claims happened at Galfy’s house.

To recap in the Post’s exclusive: Shane Dixon Kavanaugh is not a rapist.
