April Jones: Mark Bridger told his priest where the body is but he still won’t let her go
APRIL Jones is now forever linked to her murdered, Mark Bridger. The five-year-old child is forever the victim of the man who kidnapped and murdered her. The jury at Mold Crown Court spent just over four hours deliberating Bridger’s case. It’s amazing it took that long. He was bang to rights. Bridger, 47, had already confessed all to a prison chaplain at Manchester prison. He told the Roman Catholic cleric in a ‘confessional’ that he threw April Jones’ body in the River Dyfi. That cleric did not keep Bridger’s confidence.
It might be lies. The prosecution believed Bridger kidnapped April, sexually assaulted her, cut up her body and then hid it. Detective Superintendent Andy John, the senior investigating officer, said April had been the child in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bridger could have attacked any child within his reach.
Bridger said he had killed April in his car by accident, panicked and then hid the body. This was rubbish. This devious man surely hid the body to conceal the full depravity of his crime. In doing so, he denied April’s parents the chance to bury their daughter. That is callous. Until he tells someone where the body is, April Jones continues to be his property. The killer owns the victim. That is unspeakably cruel. If she were still alive, Winnie Johnson could explain just how terrible that is.
You can see photos of the inside of Bridger’s home here. It is unnervingly normal.
