TRANSFER Balls: A look at Arsenal’s moves in the footballing flesh markets, according to the media experts:

The massive £75m spending spree has begun. The Arsenal website says  the Gunners have secured the services of Yaya Sanogo…for free! Says Arsene Wenger of the young Frenchman:

“Sanogo is a good young signing for us.”

Because he’s free and has name that sounds like a German orgasm…

“He has shown that he has potential with his recent performances for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side.”

And he’s free…

“We are looking forward to Yaya joining us and continuing his promising development.”

And the bit about his being free.

In other thrilling newzzzzz for Gooners, the Daily Star says Micah Richards, the man who learnt his touch from watching Martin Keown tapes, will be heading from Manchester City to The Emirates. Oh, yeah – get this – Bayern Munich also want him.

As the Star guesses, The Sun  has good news for Arsenal fans:  Johan Djourou has completed a loan move from Arsenal to Hamburg.

Oh, and this site says “Gervinho will be allowed to leave the club this summer”.

A double-wammy of joy there.

On TalkSport, former Arsenal man Stuart Robson says the Gunners should sign Everton’s Marouane Fellaini:

“Arsenal need a real strong backbone in that midfield. I would get Fellaini if he’s available.”

He is. The big Belgian can be yours for £24m and a middling weekly wage.

But wait. There is another signing. As Pies reports:

It seems Arsenal are getting serious in their efforts to toughen up their squadfull of nimble wimps this summer, being as the Gunners have announced that former Ireland rugby international Jerry Flannery has joined the club on a work placement as a strength and conditioning coach.

Stoke City 0, Arsenal 36.

Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere wants to stick a photograph of Gonzalo Higuain’s wife on the dressing room notice board. He tells ESPN that Soledad Fandino is primed:

“That’s the sort of picture that will go right up on the bulletin board in the changing room. Some of the lads like to put up photos of other players’ wives and girlfriends and have a bit of banter. I’m not going to say but it’s not the English players. There are so few of us, anyway.

In other news, Arsenal have failed in a bid to sign Lars Bender from Bayern Leverkusen. If reports are to be belived a £20m bid was rejected. If it’s true the Gunners also launched a failed £20m for Rooney, it looks like spending all that cash isn’t all that easy. Maybe they should offer the player more than a tenner a week?

And finally, the Mirror reports:

Arsenal could gazump archrivals Tottenham in their chase for Dinamo Zagreb’s 17-year-old double act Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilovic.

Arsenal buy tin, polish it and sell it as silver. It’s the tried and tested way.

More transfer balls every day…
