‘Gifted’ Bedfordshire Council Removes Circus Posters After Woman Complains They Make Her Too Scared To Walk

“WE take complaints on a case by case basis but this was a short-term, easily solvable problem,” says Leighton Buzzard Council’s Senior operations officer Lisa Jarvis. “The circus is on the park which is our responsibility and we are responsible to our residents, so something like that is in our gift to fix, so we fixed it.”

For the third year running, the council has removed posters advertising John Lawson’s Circus. One poster was removed because a resident complained that she “could not physically walk or drive” past it. Blessedly, Leighton Buzzard Council has a gift for ripping down circus posters. So. No harm done.

The episode make us wonder if the clown-hater is from a rival circus, seeking to scupper the competition? And if you can get other posters taken down if you have a fear of, say, David Cameron, Calvin Klein or fried chicken?
