Milton Keynes Residents Told Pavement Is Not A Pavement

THIS lamppost in Kelly Gardens, Oxley Park, Milton Keynes, is a lamppost. But the footpath on which it sits is not a pavement. It is a “service margin”.

The council spokesman explains:

“In our experience where service margins have had turf coverings, they get destroyed by car wheels etc and we advise developers accordingly.  The light column is the last thing to go in, so there are limited options as to where it can be placed. The road was designed to be a ‘shared surface’ so pedestrians would use the road not the service strip.”

Correction: it’s not a lamppost. It’s a light column.
