Dayna Morales tip

THE media leapt all over the story of the waitress stiffed on a tip due to her being gay.

Chelsea Welsh wrote in the Guardian:

‘Ive waited tables before, and if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that Dayna could have posted any of the genuinely hateful notes you receive on a regular basis instead of making one up:

“Get a real job”

“NONE! :)”

“No tips for dykes”

…I also believe Dayna – to a degree. I believe that she’s likely been harassed for being gay, and likely been slighted on tips.

Adding:

The worst tippers are the most showy. They’re the type that can’t get out a complete sentence without mentioning how devout of a Christian they are…

Can you spot the prejudice in what you’ve just read? Intolerance will not be tolerated!

The story is looking a lot like total balls. But how did it come about?

Well, Dayna Morales,  reported to be a 22-year-old ex-Marine, claimed diners at the Gallop Asian Bistro in Branchburg, N.J., left her no tip on their $93.55 bill. WAs she rude? No. She says they left a note, which read  “do not agree with your lifestyle”.

Morales posted the note on her Facebook page. She emailed it to a gay rights website. She wrote:

NEVER in a million years did I think this would happen. Not only was it a family with two kids, but as I introduce myself and tell them my name is Dayna – the mom proceeds to look at me and say “oh I thought you were gonna say your name is Dan. You sure surprised us!”

The general manager of the restaurant, Byron Lapola, offered:

“Dayna is one of our absolute best servers working here at Gallop. We as a team were deeply hurt by the events that transpired. I myself as the General Manager took it personal as my team treats each other like a family. I made sure that Dayna was compensated for the tip, as for emotionally I wish there was much more I could do. One thing I can say is that people of that woman’s kind business is not welcome here at Gallop, and I can assure you that if they decide to dine here again that they will be turned away.”

The media latched on. Understanding souls sent Morales money, which she would forward to the Wounded Warrior Project.

But the accused said they did leave a tip and never left the note.

no-tip

Kristina Calamusa, a former friend of Morales, tells The Daily Caller the waitress has never seen active service and was certainly not “blown up” as she allegedly claimed. The Journal News of White Plains, N.Y., met Julie Howat and Karolee Larkin, who says Morales told them a tale about her being the sole survivor of an explosion that killed all her comrades.

But Maj. Shawn Haney, a spokesman for the Marines, confirms that Morales was a member of the Marines Corps reserve from July 2009 to May 2013. Hoever, he has no record of her having served in Afghanistan or Iraq – “while (Morales) did not fulfil her reserve obligation, per the Privacy Act, administrative actions are not releasable. The same applies to character of service and type of discharge.”

Kiersten Bremer told The Daily Caller Morales claimed to have been made pregnant by her father. She then explained the lack of any baby by saying that she had cervical cancer which spread to the baby, killing it,

Another allegation is that she said Superstorm Sandy casued a boat to rip through the walls into her living room at Stony Point, N.Y. No boat was found.

Jacqie Fitzpatrick says Morales told coworkers that she had brain cancer.

She hasn’t.
