DARION Marcus Aguilar of College Park, Martland fired a shotgun at a skateboard shop at the Mall of Columbia. The 19-year-old shot dead 21-year-old Brianna Benlolo snd 25-year-old Tyler Johnson of Ellicott City. Both worked at the Zumiez skate store. When the media arrived, CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield  spoke with Judy Hoffman, manager of the Mall’s Fire and Ice jewellery store.

Whitfield: “Judy Hoffman was a shopper in the mall. She’s on the phone with us now. Where are you now?”

Hoffman: “Actually, I’m not a shopper.”

Whitfield: “Okay.”

Hoffman: “I’m a manager at Fire and Ice at the Columbia Mall, near Nordstrom’s. Fire and Ice is a very unique, fascinating store. We sell jewellery, fossils, a number of different unique things from all over the world…”

Whitfield: “So what happened? What happened while you were in the store today?”

Hoffman had little idea. She had been “on the other side of the mall” from where the shooting occurred.

Desperate marketing meets desperate news.
