Man Arrested For Eating 15 Adopted Cats
To Brianza, a province in northern Italy, where a man has been arrested for adopting cats from a refuge centre and eating them. The man is no heathen: he first skinned and cooked the cats. He asked for “black cats with specific characteristics. They had to be around three years old, and quite plump.”
The 50-year-old adopted at least 15 cats over a period of several months from shelters run by Aidaa, the Italian animal welfare association.
The cat savers grow suspicious. Fearing he was using the cats for black magick, they went to his home where they “caught him in the act” of setting to kill a cat for dinner.
The man confessed to having served the cats at dinner parties and feeding his wife and two children. Now arrested, the man faces a prison sentence of between three months and a year, or a fine of up to €15,000.
One question: why? What did he do wrong?
If you give a cat a name does it become in an instant more valuable? What about if you name the rabbit, tuna and fish Tiddles is eating? What about the sparrow he’s caught. If you spot a huge spider in the bath will its life be spared from a sound flushing by naming it “Steve’ or ‘Legs’.
