Surprise! Men In Pubs Target The Drunk Women! And Shirley Temple Smoked!

by | 4th, March 2014

DEAR God this is one hell of a surprise, isn’t it?

The more drunk a woman looks in a bar, the more likely she is to be targeted by predatory men, a study has claimed.

Nine out of ten aggressive incidents in bars involved men approaching women because they look ‘easy’.

The research, published in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research, investigated sexual aggression in bars.

Well knock me over with a feather and all that.

However, there is in fact something interesting here. The first is that someone, somewhere, thought this was a subject worth researching properly. Rather than just assuming, well, obvious, innit?

The second is that they took two years to do the research and interviewed over 1,000 people to do it.

The third is that it took them over a decade to write up the results of that research.

So, erm, it’s not all that quick to research or study the obvious then.

The other delightful tidbit in today’s Mail is that Shirley Temple smoked. No, really, she did:

Shirley Temple died from a crippling lung disease brought on by a lifetime of smoking, MailOnline can reveal today.

The woman dubbed America’s little darling, passed away earlier this month at the age of 85, and it was claimed that she died of natural causes.

But MailOnline can exclusively reveal she was actually killed by Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

By the time you’re 85 you’re pretty much sitting around and wondering which cancer is going to kill you, not whether. So having been a lifelong smoker, and a chain one to boot so it is said, surviving to that age is pretty good going really.
