Manchester United Balls: Adrian Durham’s Fight With A Paper Bag

by | 11th, March 2014

ADRIAN Durham is the TalkSport opinion baiter with a column to fill to deadline for the Daily Mail. This week, Durham comes up with a system whereby big teams automatically get into the Champions’ League.

United BELONG in the Champions League and if they finish fifth or sixth they should snub Europa… it’s a tournament for losers

Just as the the Champions’ League is a tournament for losers, accepting, as it does, the second, third and fourth-best place teams in the Premier League. Unconcerned by facts, Durham ploughs on:

United belong in Europe’s elite and it’s almost unfair that because of a change of manager, and a tricky transition, they will be denied Champions League football. It’s equally unfair that the Champions League will be without United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and one of the biggest draws in Europe.

Maybe United should replace the side in fourth place, a spot currently occupied by Manchester City? Maybe it should all be a popularity contest with no need to kick an actual ball? Sod buying players; City should have been investing in Twitter followers.

Durham’s opinion pieces are so trite, he could be out-debated by a someone as clueless as, say,Darren Gough, his TalkSport sidekick. This is what Durham said before his latest balls:

We don’t want United, City and Chelsea winning everything!

Unless you do…
