Transfer Balls: Robben Follows Kroos To Manchester United On A Golden Turd
IT’S too early award the Golden Turd Cup for the most bullshit transfer story of the season. But the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler is going to be a hard scribe to beat. On May 21, Wheeler announced that Manchester United had signed Toni Kroos and were in for his Bayern Munich teammate Arjen Robben:
Said Wheeler:
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos and are set to make a stunning move for his team-mate Arjen Robben.
Of course, Kroos is not heading to United. And neither is Robben, as the Dutchman tells De Telegraaf:
‘‘I’ll stay with Bayern Munich. Period. Incidentally, I cannot imagine that Bayern would lose me. I just renewed my contract and we are happy with each other.”
Singling our Wheeler is a tad harsh. So, the Star’s Colin Harvey gets to share the nomination:

Van Gaal plans to shake up the United attack with a £25million move for the Dutch winger. Bayern Munich are tipped to off-load Robben in the wake of their disastrous Champions League semi-final exit at the hands of Real Madrid.
