TRANSFER Balls: Is Paul Pogba making a move from Juventus? Let’s se what the papers have been saying:

June 5, Manchester Evening News: “Pogba agent rules out Premier League return”

The Frenchman has been the subject of reports linking both United and City with a swoop, but is happy to remain with Juventus this summer.

Adding:

…the player’s representative Mino Raiola has now moved to end speculation over his client’s future. He wrote on Twitter: “My player Paul Pogba happy at the club.. He is not going anywhere.”

June 7, Daily Telegraph: “Manchester United unlikely to pursue former midfielder Paul Pogba”

Jason Burt writes:

Manchester United have been quoted an extraordinary fee of £60million to re-sign their former midfielder Paul Pogba from Juventus. The scale of the fee will prohibit any move for the 21-year-old French international with Chelsea, who have also been interested in acquiring Pogba as Jose Mourinho re-shapes his midfield, unlikely to make a bid either.

So. It’s unlikely the club with a reported £220m transfer kitty will pay for a rising star.

And note that the Press have now linked Pogba to Man City, Man United and Chelsea. If they can mention Arsenal and Liverpool, it’s a Full House of Balls.

May 8, Daily Mirror: “Manchester United transfer rumours: Paul Pogba move back on as Juventus set price tag”

The Frenchman was top of former boss David Moyes’ wishlist and the Sunday Express suggest new man Van Gaal has a similarly high opinion of the Juve man. Such a steepling price may see them turn to other options though with a comprehensive overhaul in the offing at Old Trafford. United apparently believe Pogba would like to return to England to be closer to his brother Mathias who is at League One Crewe.

Adding:

But any switch would see them considerably out of pocket after letting him walk away for just £5m two years ago.

The Express say that matters not a jot:

Louis Van Gaal wants £60m man Paul Pogba BACK at Manchester United

In the Star, the story first reported in the UK by The Observer on the 7th, is an “exclusive””

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United have been quoted a massive £60m to re-sign Paul Pogba.

And you know that £5m the Mirror says United sold him for, well…

MAN UNITED have been quoted a MASSIVE £60million for Paul Pogba – a player they lost for NOTHING.

Back in the Observer, Daniel Taylor writes:

Pogba featured prominently in David Moyes’s plans for a overhaul of the United midfield, with the former manager hoping to bring in at least two high-calibre players. Toni Kroos of Bayern Munich and Cesc Fábregas of Barcelona were the other players on his wish-list and there had been extensive work behind the scenes over a six-month period to explore exactly what it would take to make the moves happen.

A deal was effectively in place for Kroos, and United had been in a reasonably strong position to bring Fábregas back to the Premier League. However, the position on those two has drastically changed since Louis van Gaal took the job, with Strootman the top of his own list of targets despite the Dutch midfielder currently recovering from a broken leg. United now say neither Kroos nor Fábregas are no longer in their thinking any longer.

Regular readers will recall the Express words:

MANCHESTER UNITED have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for attacker Toni Kroos

That was verified by the Mirror an the Mail, which trilled:

A £20million deal for Kroos was agreed when David Moyes was still in charge at Old Trafford and his successor, former Bayern coach Louis van Gaal, has said the move can go ahead

Transfer Balls every day…
