World Cup Balls: Paul Merson Forgets England 1984 And Thinks Mexico And Brazil Are Rubbish

WORLD Cup Balls presents the wit of Paul Merson – billed in the Daily Star as “Our top columnist”,. He “shoots from the lip”.

Daily Star columnist Merson said: “This is the lowest of the low for England. It doesn’t get any worse”

England scored one point from three matches at the World Cup Finals. In 1994, England scored no points at the World Cup Finals. Merson was part of the team that failed to make it that far.

“People said we had a tough group because there were three former World Cup winners in it – rubbish.”

One of those World Cup winners is England. You can’t play yourself, Paul.

“Uruguay haven’t won the World Cup in about 100 years and their best player was half fit. Italy’s best player is 35. If he was playing for England we would all be asking why.”

Uruguay last won the World Cup in 1950. In Brazil.

And Frank Lampard is, on paper, England’s best and most accomplished player. He was 36 on June 20.

“Costa Rica have topped this group. That says everything about how much quality there was in it.”

Classy. Costa Rica beat Italy and Uruguay. Their second XI drew with England. One their way to Brazil 2014 Costa Rica defeated the USA (who beat Ghana, drew with Portugal and were unlucky to lose to Germany) and Mexico (who drew with Brazil).

So. On their day it could be argue that Costa Rica could beat Brazil.

So. Obviously Costa Rica are crap.
