TRANSFER Balls: Let’s see how the Press deal with Arturo Vidal.

Is Chilean heading to Manchester United?

No, says the Daily Mail.

But the Daily Mirror says:

United will look to bring in Arturo Vidal from Juventus.

The powerhouse Chilean who starred in Brazil is up for a big move and with United having already been in conversation with the Italian club over Patrice Evra’s move to Serie A the signs are good that Vidal will pump much needed strength into the Reds’ engine room next season.

The Daily Express says Evra is not enough. It’s Nani plus money the Italians need:

Manchester United set to offer Juventus Nani to sweeten Arturo Vidal deal… Louis Van Gaal is set to make a move for Roma and Holland midfielder Kevin Strootman after growing frustrated in the chase for Juventus’ Arturo Vidal.

The Metro says that contrary to reports (see above), Vidal is wanted by United:

United boss Louis van Gaal is said to be desperate to sign the 27-year-old, who he has admired since his days in the Bundesliga.

Van Gaal is “desperate” for Vidal. Or as the IBTimes states:

Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils End Vidal Pursuit

The Daily Star says Vidal is heading to United, maybe:

Man Utd and Chelsea targets Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba set to leave Juventus – MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea have been given a huge boost in their pursuits of Juventus stars Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.

But the Mirror “understands” things that others do not:

MirrorFootball understands there are fears at the Turin club that a midfielder who relies on such mobility could struggle to recover fully from an injury to his right knee that was sustained last season.

Worries over his knee are believed to be behind the Italian champions’ sudden willingness to part with a player that has been key in three successive title wins, allied with the emergence of former United youngster Paul Pogba.

Amid the balls, what says Vidal? Well, happily he’s been talking. But what he says depends on what paper you read his words in:

The London Evening Standard notes:

“I am already at a great team like Juventus,” he told Chilean TV station Chilevision. “That’s why it will not be a problem if the chance to join Manchester United falls through. I am not thinking about where to go next. I just want to enjoy my holiday here in Chile with the people I love. We will see what happens when I get back to Italy.”

Did he mention United by name? No (and here).

The Irish Indy sees the player’s words – and mistakes Juventus for a small club:

Arturo Vidal admits he’d ‘love to play for a big club’ as he opens door to Manchester United move…

The Express says the player is not moving:

MANCHESTER UNITED have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal after the player admitted he was happy at Juventus.

And the Mirror adds that Vidal wants the move to United and is upset that it is not going through:

Arturo Vidal transfer: Manchester United target resigned to missing out on £34million move

The Indy notes:

On Monday Arturo Vidal said he would “love to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world” offering a hint that he might be moving to Manchester United.

But the Chilean World Cup star has now thrown doubt on a potential move, saying he would “be happy” to stay with Italian giants Juventus.

“I am already at a great team like Juventus,” he told Chilean TV station Chilevision. “That’s why it will not be a problem if the chance to join Manchester United falls through.”

And then comes the Star to say that that talk of a “big club” might be about more than just United:

Vidal signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal at Juve in December and is also wanted by Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. “I’ve heard about the rumours, but I haven’t spoken more about this subject. I’m very calm, but anyone would love to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Such are the facts…
