Arsenal Balls: Daily Mail Gives Calum Chambers 6 Out Of 10 And Calls Him ‘The New Bobby Moore’

ARSENAL Balls: how does the Daily Mail see Calum Chambers, the 19-year-old who has now played two competitive matches for Arsenal?

Like this:

England beckons for cool Chambers after Arsenal new boy plays like a true great

Neil Ashton is building up the lad:

At the heart of Arsenal’s defence, Calum Chambers played as if he owned the place. This was a performance of breathtaking maturity. To watch an Englishman as composed as Chambers on the ball, dropping off those extra 10 yards to be in possession or striding forward through midfield is something special…  Even with Fraizer Campbell breathing down his neck, he was always a step ahead of the game.

He then adds:

Think of the great ball-playing English centre backs, from Bobby Moore to Rio Ferdinand. This 19-year-old has similar traits.

He was that good. No. He was “great”.

He’s the perfect 10. Or as the Mail puts it in its review of the Arsenal v Crystal Palace match:

CALUM CHAMBERS – 6.5

Picked up a silly booking for hauling Fraizer Campbell down, but a solid debut for the youngster who doesn’t look at all overawed after a summer move from Southampton.

Scores are out of 10.

It’s almost as if – as if! – the Mail is bigging the lad up to bring him down.
