Transfer Balls: Arsenal Sell Lukas Podolski As Khedira Arrives And Buy Douglas Costa Who Likes AC Milan
TRANSFER Balls: The Sun leads with news that Arsenal are ready to sell Lukas Podolski to Galatasaray. Is the German going to be taking selfies in Istanbul?
German tabloid Bild agrees. Podolski’s agent, Nassim Touihri, tells the paper:
“There have always been questions. Now we have a concrete interest from some teams. Lukas is in London, and he feels good.”
Is the charismatic German heading to Turkey? Or is he leaving the Emrirates for Cologne? He recently wrote this in Bild:
“When I was finally back on the ground, I felt the typical Cologne euphoria, joy, and the hunger of the people for the Bundesliga. We all want to see FC there permanently. My attitude towards the club has never changed since the youth. It is the club that owns my whole heart. And I wish coaching staff, team, club and especially the fans good luck and to have a big season.”
Arsenal will miss Podolski. As this site says, he’s the club’s best finisher:
Throughout the 2013/14 season, Lukas Podolski maintained a better shot accuracy (61%) than Sergio Aguero (60%) and Luis Suarez (53%). Getting shots on target is only half the job, though. A player needs to actually beat the ‘keeper for the shots to mean anything. Podolski, once again, ousts last season’s top scorers with a conversion rate of 36.4%.
The Indy agrees, writing yestrdy on the return of Arsenal’s World Cup winning trio:
Arsenal will certainly be strengthened by access to their defensive leader, their record signing and their purest finisher.
And there was Sky, which reported:
Lukas Podolski sees his future at Arsenal, with the forward reading little into reports of a proposed summer transfer.
And there was this from Poldolski, who said of Sami Khedira:
“I didn’t have to [try to convince Khedira to join Arsenal]. Sami knows how much fun he could have with me, Mesut and Per at Arsenal. Sami knows how much fun he could have with me, Mesut [Ozil] and Per [Mertesacker] at Arsenal. We had a great time together at the World Cup and I would like it very much if he comes to London.”
Oh, and we’ll end with this bit of balls in the Express:
ARSENAL are ready to move for Shakhtar Donetsk star Douglas Costa after the club declared he was free to leave for the right price.
The price quoted for Costa: £40m.
And then Yahoo! reports:
Serie A – Douglas Costa open to AC Milan move
Such are the facts...
