Transfer Balls: Manchester United Are Desperate To Force Out Danny Wellbeck To Anyone But Arsenal

TRANSFER Balls: Danny Wellbeck is leaving Manchester United for Arsenal or Spurs, says the The Telegraph,:

Danny Welbeck has been told he can leave Manchester United during the final week of the transfer window. The news will be of particular interest to Arsenal and Tottenham, who are both big fans of Welbeck and have checked on his availability in the past… United value Welbeck at around £15 million which would comfortably fit into the budgets of north London rivals Spurs and Arsenal.

But the Mail says Spurs might not have the money:

England forward is unsure how much of a role he will play this season with Louis van Gaal and will weigh up his options over the next fortnight. Hull have tried and failed to sign him while Sunderland are keen as their search for strikers continues. Tottenham and Everton would be expected to show an interest also although the latter may struggle to afford a deal.

Well, at least Wellbeck is weighing up his options and not rushing into anything. After all, he has two years left on his United deal. He could see how the season ahead pans out and then with just one year left on his contract move.

But the Metro says that the North London clubs want Wellbeck, who “demands” to leave United:

Arsenal and Tottenham want £15million Danny Welbeck transfer as he demands Manchester United exit

Pies picks up on different news. The Guardian’s Daniel Taylor says United don’t want to sell Wellbeck to any team in the Top 6. That surely rules out Wellbeck moving to Arsenal or Spurs. It also won’t help Wellbeck’s career. Would he be fool enough to agree to that?

The Mail says that means Wellbeck is off to Sunderland, having dodged a bid from Hull.

The Indy says United are being spikey:

In a heated press conference at the club’s training ground, Van Gaal refused to confirm or deny the story, but the new United manager admitted he was angry that details of a private conversation he held with Welbeck had been leaked. Van Gaal said: “The media were not in the room and I do not speak about that because that’s private. I know what I said to Danny and Danny knows exactly what I said to him. I assume that Danny Welbeck is not saying anything about our conversation and also in that conversation was (assistant manager) Ryan Giggs and he doesn’t say (anything) either, and that is the way it should be.”

Bit touchy, there, Louis, who knows Giggs doesn’t talk to the Press but only “assumes” Wellbeck doesn’t.  Makes us wonder if United are desperate for Wellbeck to leave and are trying to force him out…
