TRANSFER Balls: Is Everton’s Ross Barkley leaving Goodison Park to play for Manchester City or Chelsea?

The Daily Express says he is. The Express says Barkley is worth £50m to both teams. That sounds a lot for the 20-year-old. City signed Yaya Toure for £24m. The Express says Barkley will be his replacement.

Richard Tanner reports:

With 17 overseas stars in their first-team squad, City need to sign more England players to comply with the Premier League and UEFA’s home-grown quotas. That is why they are desperate to hold on to England pair Joe Hart and James Milner.

Why would Barkley leave Everton? He signed a new sontract in July 2014, saying:

“It means everything to me. It’s a dream playing for Everton. As soon as I got told about it I wanted to sign. Signing a new contract is a dream. I’ve played for Everton most of my life. This is a big thing for me. It didn’t take any persuading. As soon as I got told about it I wanted to sign.”

The Express opined:

Confirmation of the new deal will put an end to relentless transfer speculation that has surrounded Barkley…

And what about Milner? The Mail told us that he wanted to leave City. He wanted to play in central midfield. But how can he if Barkley is the new Toure?

The Mail reported:

It is an area the Gunners are looking to strengthen, and they are planning an offer upwards of £10million, with Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool also keen.

Neither Arsenal nor Liverpool bid for Milner.

And Hart? Well, the Star reported that he left last summer:
