The Sun hears not form the proven victim, rather from one Jayne Bird, now 46, who claims that when she was 18 DLT “pressed her against his car and grabbed her breasts when she agreed to help him carry his bags after watching him in a pantomime”.

Bird tells the paper:
“He should definitely go to prison. He can’t be allowed to get away with it. It’s sad because of his age — but he did what he did and you can’t get away with these things for ever. It’s always going to catch up with you sooner or later. He has this way about him like he’s a friendly grandad and you feel you’ll be safe with him. But then he turned into this pervert. He deserves everything he gets.”
Adding:
“I remember his big beard pressing against my face. I can’t stand beards now.”
And she asks:
“Even though I just left school and was young and naïve I could sense there was something pervy about him. Who gropes someone they’ve only just met?”
That the Sun illustrates the story with a photo of DLT and Jimmy Savile suggests the question has been answered.
And then Jayne says something interesting:
“I never thought of going to the police — I just got on with my life. But I think that’s wrong and I want my daughter to know that kind of behaviour is not acceptable anymore. It’s too late for me to report it to police and I have no evidence. But speaking out is my way of standing up to that man.”
She got on with it. She only realised the full criminal horror what she claims DLT did when Operation Yewtree was on the news and the police were asking victims to come forward. And she has no evidence. When did legal process get so obliterated? When did a fair trial become something that belongs in the bad old days. Why not go to the police?
Travis, real name David Griffin, was arrested in November 2012 by Operation Yewtree detectives investigating historical sex abuse claims in the wake of the Savile scandal.
Savile never was arrested…
