TRANSFER Balls: The Guardian looks at Arsenal and a top player and wonders aloud:

Football transfer rumours: Arsenal to end Edinson Cavani’s PSG hell?

Long gone are the days when newspapers answered questions. Now it’s just about joining a conversation or – and this dread phrase is borrowed from modern political life – joining the debate. The Guardian wonders if Cavani is leaving the ‘hell’ of being paid millions of euros a year to kick a ball in Paris to earn milions of pounds for kicking a ball in London.

Cavani is so sad in the French capital, that according to L’Equipe, his eyes no longer sparkle but £55m of Wenger’s finest will no doubt put that right in January.

Number of facts linking the Uruguayan with Arsenal: nil.

It is, of course, utter balls.

The summer was full of it. The papers telling us all manner of balls. This was one highlight, by the Express, which managed to mention four of the top five English teams in a single headline based on a story featuring not a single fact.

And then ITV made up  for that oversight and tossed in Manchester City:
