TRANSFER Balls: The Daily Star says “Liverpool suffer HUGE blow as Arsenal move a step CLOSER to signing Gonzalo Higuain”.

Know that:

ARSENAL are leading the race to sign Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain.

You wants facts?

Sources in Spain claim the Gunners have opened talks with Napoli and Higuain over a potential move to the Emirates. It’s believed the north London side have offered the Italian’s £31.2m to sign Higuain, who is reportedly unhappy in Naples.

The Star is a beacon of the vague.

And is HUGE bigger than GIGANTIC – because three days easlier, the Star yelled:

On October 23, the Daily Express reported that Liverpool had filed a £31.2million bid – “which should give them the edge over Arsenal in the race”.

That’s the same bid the Arsenal have reportedly made. Funny how two clubs conjured up the same amount. Funny how no club has announced these offers and that no sources are named.

Oddly, the Express added that Higuan was going to “snub” Arsenal and Liverpool and remain at Napoli.

…the player’s brother, Federico, insists that those reports are wide of the mark and that the former Real Madrid man will remain in Serie A. He told calciomercato: “I have read and heard different things about my brother, but none of these things correspond to reality. People have spoken of the disappointment of not qualifying for the Champions League, and that this has caused resentment from Gonzalo. Nothing could be further from the truth. When I speak to my brother he is calm, and happy to wear the shirt of Napoli. His future is still with the Partenopei.”

On October 1, the Metro reported that Liverpool wopild get the player:

Liverpool will find it easy to thrash out a deal, with Rodgers hoping to get an agreement in place for the Argentine to arrive on January 1st.

And let’s not forget that Higuan is already an Arsenal player. This one never get old:
